This Navajo Indian Turquoise Jewelry Native American Bear Claw Silver Belt Buckle is an impressive piece of hand made Navajo Indian jewelry art. This Belt Buckle features a pair of high grade nuggets of genuine Sleeping Beauty Turquoise (the Tiffany of Turquoise). This Turquoise has been set up against a brilliant display of Sterling Silver. This impressive belt buckle is also dressed with a faux Bear Claw. Sterling Silver feather figures, hand made Sterling Silver beads, and a hand twisted Sterling Silver wire give this Native American belt bcukle extra detail. Turquoise and Silver, you can never go wrong with that. Made in our shop. This Turquoise Native American Buckle is 2-1/2" by 3-1/4" with a 1-1/2" wide keeper on the back. Signed by the Navajo Indian jewelry artist with our hallmark. Stamped Sterling.

The Navajo were the first to produce jewelry that required the working of metal. Their love of metal working can be traced to the Spanish arrival in the Southwest. The silver bridles and horse trappings of the Conquistadors were admired and often stolen by the raiding Navajos. Later when the area became part of Mexico, Mexican silversmiths traded jewelry to wealthy Navajo for sheep. Jewelry became a symbol of wealth.
